Our Story · Three Decades of Curated Travel

Two brothers, one quiet obsession.

Travel Pals was founded by Mohit and Amit Chopra to bring three decades of curated travel expertise to discerning travellers from North America.

For thirty years the Chopra brothers have been quietly building extraordinary journeys for repeat travellers, families, and the kind of guests who measure a trip by its smallest, truest moments. India has been our home, our school and our subject — and now, with a growing roster of curated experiences in development, we are bringing the full gamut of our services to discerning travellers across North America.

Every property we use is one we have stayed in. Every restaurant, eaten at. Every guide, vetted in person. We say no to the chains and the rote, and yes to the hosts who still set out marigolds because they want to, not because we asked.

The Founder

Mohit Chopra

Director · Travel Pals · India's Lifelong Student

India is not something Mohit Chopra discovered. It is something he was born into, and has never stopped learning. He has lived and breathed this country from his very first day — its festivals and its forests, its palace corridors and village lanes, its monsoon rains and desert dawns. India is not his profession. It is his inheritance.

By training a Chartered Accountant, Mohit carries an instinct for precision that does not switch off. Every hotel, every guide, every transfer, every room with a view is weighed against a standard most travellers never notice — because when it is executed properly, they notice only the experience itself.

What moves him is the moment a traveller from Chicago or London stands before the Taj Mahal at sunrise and finds no words. The morning a tiger steps across the track forty feet from the jeep and time simply stops. The evening a Rajasthani family insists you stay for dinner — because that is simply what you do for a guest. He has devoted himself to ensuring these moments happen not by accident, but by design.

The Co-Founder

Amit Chopra

The Fixer · Tourism in the Blood

A graduate in Tourism from Delhi University, Amit has a natural agenda of making people happy whilst on tour with him. A "never say no" attitude for the last twenty-plus years is what keeps him on his toes — and what keeps the wheels of every Travel Pals journey turning, day or night, on the road or off it.

Tourism and hospitality are in his blood. He grew up watching his family serve guests from across the world, and nothing is too big or too small for him. It's hard not to fall in love with India — or anywhere else he leads a trip — when Amit is around. He goes beyond the call of duty to ensure every single traveller has a good time on tour.

Loves cricket, photographing and riding trains, talking aviation — and a casual pint or two of proper beer at the end of a long, well-executed day.

Tour Host With a Difference

Mary Crave

Hosted Group Tours · A Traveller Who Hosts

Mary Crave first lived overseas in Sri Lanka on a 4-H exchange and has been working and travelling around the world ever since. After revisiting India in early 2025, she fell in love with the diversity, the colours and the culture of this enormous country.

Now, drawing on years of leading groups to Africa, she partners with us to host the kind of small-group India tour that adventurous, experienced travellers have come to expect — including our flagship November 2026 and February 2027 departures. A tour host with a difference: a traveller herself, hosting other travellers as a friend would.

A Glimpse — The Nagaur Cattle Fair

Where 70,000 animals, turbans and moustaches arrive at once.

The kind of moment we live for — and the kind we time entire journeys around.
