Pure Awakening

A hundred acres of forest, a palace, and a doctor who writes your week.

A guide for the first-timer

You've never done a wellness retreat.

Most of our guests hadn't either.

Ananda, in the Himalayan foothills above Rishikesh, is a hundred-acre palace estate — and also a serious medical wellness centre. That combination confuses people. This page explains, in plain language, what actually happens there, what it will do for you, and how to work out the length of stay you need. Then we build the rest of the India trip around it.

Three things people get wrong before they arrive:

It is not a hospital.

You stay in a suite in a Maharaja's palace estate, with the service of a five-star hotel.

It is not a juice fast.

You eat three cooked meals a day, prescribed by a doctor for your body type.

Nothing is compulsory.

Some guests do six hours of therapy a day. Some read by the pool. Both are fine.

How it works

Four steps, and only one of them is yours.
